Hi, Samara.

I wanted to get off on a jog this morning—but you know my pitch. Other stuff just got in the way.

Had a crazy experience yesterday morning. I grabbed one of my hats and slapped it on my head in typical fashion before going out the door and immediately felt a sharp pain at the back of my head—like someone had poked me with a needle. Well, someone actually did! It was a bee hiding in my hat—and he poked me with his needle-like stinger. Ouch! I let him warm up in the woodstove after. That may be one of the consequences of bringing firewood in from outside with whatever and whomever hiding out in the wood.

Another crazy task to deal with yesterday morning was to rescue Thano and his truck as he got badly stuck in the mud where he was trying to drop a bunch of trees for firewood. He called me the evening before and I went to see what we were up against. It was bad. I fought with it for awhile, but we ended up just leaving it for the night. The landowner graciously fired up his tractor yesterday morning and pulled him out so that I didn’t have to consume a lot of time with creative rigging, etc.

Well, hope you can make the best of this rainy day. It’s pouring here right now.

Love, Tua.

Proverbs 18
Focus: “The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.” Proverbs 18:4.

Perhaps the main reason why THE WORDS OF A MAN’S MOUTH ARE DEEP WATERS is because we are all forced to constantly try and figure out WHY people say what they say. Words are audible or literary displays of thought processes—they flow from the climate and condition of the heart. I suppose that even those who do the speaking don’t normally understand WHY they say everything they say—or think what they think. That’s where psychological and psychiatric counselors can offer some help—just helping one to explore the “deep waters” of the heart and mind so as to understand CAUSE AND EFFECT regarding one’s feelings, thinking, and related speaking.

Once again we bump into the Jeremiah 17:9 problem—the universal affliction of the natural human heart. Not pretty. So let’s ask this: What are the chances that anyone is going to clean up all the pollution of their own “deep waters” entirely on their own? I would say, no chance! Good news, Samara! You don’t have to do it all or understand everything on your own! In fact, you can’t! You need a resource bigger than you! And that is exactly what our Maker and His supernatural Word is designed to do for us. “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). Let’s go ahead and throw in verse 13 for no extra charge: “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” Wow!

Touching on the second half of the FOCUS VERSE, I think this is how it works: IF A PERSON WILL SEEK AND SUBJECT HIMSELF TO HIS MAKER AND HIS WORD, THAT PERSON WILL BE INFUSED WITH WISDOM BEYOND HIMSELF, AND WILL ALWAYS HAVE GOOD THINGS TO SAY—KIND OF LIKE A “BUBBLING BROOK” THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO IRRIGATE OTHERS WITH THAT WISDOM.

“An offended brother (as often caused by “the words of a man’s mouth”)
is more unyielding than a fortified city…”
~ Proverbs 18:19 ~
