Hello, Samara.

The day is off and running—even though I didn’t go running. I’m just trying to run after it before it goes out of sight.

There is nothing new to you about sign work—since you’re around it all the time at your dad’s shop, but maybe I’ll stick on a shot of one of the sign installs I did yesterday. The faces I installed on this one measure 5’ high by 14’ wide.

Lots to do today too. I promise it will not include skiing. But it will include two little boys coming for the weekend. Mama Becki will pick them up at 3pm.

Have a great day.

Love, Tua.

Proverbs 27
Focus: “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.” Proverbs 27:12.

What if there was an accurate statistic that said this: 50% OF ALL AIRPLANES THAT TAKE OFF IN FLIGHT END IN A DESTRUCTIVE CRASH? How eager would you be to get on an airplane?—even if the plane was headed to DISNEYLAND? You might decide to not get on any airplane ever again—and if you did, you would check everything out to the best of your ability before doing so—checking out the age and track record of the plane, the mechanics and servicing program, and the competence of the pilot.

But now feed this accurate statistic into your thinking: 100% OF ALL LIVES THAT TAKE OFF FROM BIRTH END IN DESTRUCTIVE DEATH. What are you going to do with that? The SIMPLE say, “Hey—don’t worry about it! Just eat, drink, and be merry—for tomorrow we die!” But WISDOM is more discerning and prudent than that. WISDOM takes refuge in knowledge—knowledge imparted by the MAKER/DESIGNER of not only human life—but the Maker of everything—the One Who knows everything about everything. It is that knowledge and relationship that allows David to exclaim, “Even though I walkthrough the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me…” (Psalm 23:4). Wow! Talk about REFUGE! And Solomon affirms, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous (wise, prudent) run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10).

We could go on and on with all the neat Biblical stuff we can know, practice, and believe. Indeed we have access to the greatest and most wonderful REFUGE available on planet earth! Perhaps one of the most awesome announcements ever made or heard in this regard is the one Jesus made to Martha. Listen carefully—ponder it—believe it—even though your understanding may be less than perfect. “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?’” (John 11:25-26). If you and I can answer that question, “Yes—I believe!”—BINGO!—there’s your better-than-a-parachute REFUGE!

“Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man.”
