Good morning, dear ones.

I’m trying to cope with the pressure I face. The perspective presented in this Bible reading and resulting devotional composition sure helps. What would we do without this refurbishing resource?

Besides all the work I face (some of which being a race with the rain), I’m facing a major setback—my truck has developed a serious problem that I hope to have resolved today…but can’t be sure. The mounting bracket for the steering gear box has broken…allowing the gear box to flop around some…a very dangerous way to drive. I’ll probably replace the gear box too. I think we’re looking at some serious bucks. Yippee. It’s another good time to quote Romans 8:28.

Let’s get on with it. The reading today includes 3 exhortations that begin with “See to it” (vv. 15, 16, 25). Check it out. I’ll add one of my own—as you get on with it, SEE TO IT that you are aligned with His blessing.

Love, Dad/Ray.

Hebrews 12:14-29
Focus:“You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly…” Hebrews 12:22.

I’m choosing to narrow my focus to processing one basic question: WHY ARE THOSE THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF ANGELS SO JOYFUL?

I’ve never been an angel before. I’ve never met or talked to an angel before—not that I know of anyway. All I can do is draw some bits of information from the Word, use my imagination, and speculate. I am inclined to conclude that the angels are united in joyful service to God mainly because they are equipped with supernatural abilities to see the bigger picture and are excited about their being on the winning side of the cosmic conflict—perhaps totally overwhelmed at the goodness, grace, and creative wisdom of their Sovereign Lord.

I believe that the Bible, God’s Word, is evidence of His supernatural effort to equip us seeking humans with an ability to see the big picture—allowing us to also be joyful in the gracious opportunity afforded us to participate on the winning side. Please take advantage of this big-picture provision and don’t allow yourself to get so tripped up by all the trivial and temporal stuff of this world that you neglect to follow the angel’s lead, to join with those thousands upon thousands of saints as described in Revelation 19:6-7 who shout, “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns! Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come and his bride has made herself ready.”

“Unhappiness: Not knowing what we want and killing ourselves to get it.”
