1 John 5
Focus: “Those who believe in the Son of God have the living testimony in their hearts. Those who don’t belive have made God out to be a liar by not believing the testimony God has confirmed about his son.”
1 John 5:10 (The Passion Translation)

Try to imagine a person who is so worked up with anti-God/anti-Christ contempt that he actually takes a stance in an open place, looking up with his clenched fists raised, he shouts as loud as he can, just to make sure God hears, “God—you are an absolute liar!” I know—that’s kind of hard to picture.

But wait a minute—think carefully about what we just read in the FOCUS VERSE. If I’m reading correctly I’m recognizing that calling God a liar is a very common and popular reality. It’s not necessary for one to be loud and emphatic with such a statement in order to unwittingly transmit the very same arrogant message to Sovereign God. All he needs to do is NOT BELIEVE.
