Hello, Samara.

For the first time since being here, I did a little old man jog. It wasn’t very easy. But I did it early enough to avoid the massive congestion of traffic that Port Vila has these days. On my way back I bought a couple small loaves of French bread. The store was already open at 5:30am. Then, before doing a shower, I took the car down to the open market about 6:30am—showing me that going early into town is the absolute best time. I bought some avocados, a snake bean, a pineapple, a couple small cucumbers, a head of Chinese cabbage, and a soursop. The total cost for all I bought this morning was 1380 vatu—close to $13.80 in US.

Lots to do. Better get on with it. Have a great day.

Love, Tua.

PS: Sure would like to hear from you. Hint, hint.

Proverbs 13
Focus: “A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.” Proverbs 13:1.

In the same way that we looked beyond the natural practical meaning in processing yesterday’s FOCUS VERSE, we can do it again here with this one. So if we equate the “father” here to represent our HEAVENLY FATHER, and a “wise son” as representing ourselves as SONS OF GOD who wisely live to please our Father God, we have another valid and profound practical truth to live by.

It makes sense to me that the main reason a man mocks at the idea of God and accountability to Him is because he refuses to honestly and objectively examine the evidence—and he refuses to listen to the rebuke of GUILT within his own soul. After all, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world” (Psalms 19:1-4). I love this idea—that the Creator has actually programmed His creation to broadcast His elementary TRUTH to His human creatures. Let’s also recite again what Paul declares in famous Romans 1:18-20: “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”

Here’s a word to the wise: BE WISE!—WORSHIP AND OBEY YOUR MAKER!

“Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard.”
