Greetings, dear ones.

Wow! It’s been a week since pumping out one of these little compositions. While the work load increases, my energy doesn’t. And now I even have to lay aside my jog routine in order to run off to cut up a bunch of black walnut in Salem. That contact involves an interesting story. But there’s not sufficient time to tell it now.

Blessings on your day.

Love, Dad/Ray.

Psalms 119:153-160 / Proverbs 17
Focus: "Your compassion is great, O LORD; preserve my life according to your laws.” Psalm 119:156.

This is no over-statement—the Lord’s compassion is indeed great!—like beyond comprehension. I believe we are supposed to be mind-boggled by it all. And we should decisively maintain the marvel. There is the subtle possibility that even Bible believers can become dulled in their awe, praise, and gratitude by being so constantly familiar with Biblical precepts like John 3:16—quoting it automatically and perfectly, like playing back an indifferent recording. Another well-known quote that should boggle the mind is Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Please don’t allow a reduction of AMAZING as you ponder this demonstration of His GRACE.

When I manage my focus, directing it toward things important, things eternal, God’s grace and goodness of which I am a benefactor, how can this not contribute to up-beat sound-mindedness? How can it not assist toward “a cheerful heart”? The strategy of that old well-known song comes to mind: “Turn your eyes upon Jesus; Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.” On the other hand, if I focus without restraint on the things of earth, what happens? The grace of God, the work of Christ, and things important grow strangely dim. It’s just simple math. It’s “life according to your laws.”

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
~ Proverbs 17:22 ~
