Good morning, special ones.

Becki and I were able to do a walk/jog in the frosty morning.

As is the case with any undertaking, you have to start somewhere. So I began by calculating that we would need to cover about 3 chapters per day to do a pass through the Old Testament. This may be a bigger challenge than I can handle. But I’m going to give it a serious try. Please judge what I did here this morning…and offer any commentary that may cross your mind. I’m learning real fast that it is much easier to say a lot about a little than to say a little about a lot. There is definitely a lot in this reading of Genesis 1-3 that could consume a huge amount of time and attention.

May your first day of 2013 be a good one.

Love, Dad/Ray

Passage:Genesis 1-3
Focus: “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers…” Genesis 3:15.

What do you make of this cryptic pronouncement that shows Satan, represented by the “serpent,” as fathering offspring?

In the realm of the physical, we are able to understand, in measure, how the Creator has designed fatherhood to be established. It clearly involves a complex and intricate cross-gender union. But in the realm of the spiritual, fatherhood is established by answering WHO ARE YOU GOING TO BELIEVE?—THE TRUTH OF GOD OR THE LIES OF SATAN? By this standard Jesus could legitimately rebuke His Jewish antagonists by saying, “You belong to your father, the devil” (John 8:44), and why He could appropriately rebuke Peter with, “Get behind me, Satan!” (Matthew 16:23).

Warning: Cohabitation with the lies of Satan will bear offspring consequences.

He does not love what is good who does not hate what is evil.
