Passage: 1 Corinthians 1
Focus: “…to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy…” 1 Corinthians 1:2.

Sanctified? Holy?  Aren’t those kind of obsolete unreachable ideals in our advanced world of science and sophistication?  The fact of the matter is that there is nothing very advanced in our modern world insofar as spiritual health and morality are concerned.  And make no mistake about it—sanctification and holiness are not only achievable through Christ, they are essential.
Sin is dirty.  God’s Word, properly applied, is cleansing (Eph. 5:25-27).  If A HEART AFTER GOOD is the motivation, holiness is the result.  (Heb. 12:14)
