Carrie May Aleman passed away at home in her sleep on the morning of August 24, 2010 after battling cancer for over two years.

A Memorial service was held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Mennonite Church in McMinnville, Oregon.

Carrie May Shepherd was born in McCook, Nebraska on March 14, 1940, to Milford Dale Shepherd and Verda Dollie Ricley.
She graduated from Dayton High School in 1958, and from Northwest College in 1965 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Education. In 1966 she graduated from Rio Grande Bible Institute in Texas after completing a missionary language course in Spanish. Shortly after that, she spent a year and a half living in Mexico City.

In 1968, she returned to live in Dayton, Oregon. She attended the Dayton Assembly of God church were she met Jorge Aleman. They were married on December 26, 1970. they had two daughters, Rebekah Kay and Julia Anna.

Carrie worked for 17 years at the Dayton High School as an ESL assistant. She retired in 2003.

Jorge and Carrie served as pastors of a Spanish congregation for 25 years.

Carrie’s greatest joy in life was sharing the word of God with children. She began teaching Sunday school at the age of 15, and continued teaching children about God for over 50 years.

She was kind-hearted and became a mother figure for many. She especially enjoyed being a grandmother to her four grandchildren.
