Tis the Season
Indeed it is THE season and I do hope that you enjoy a most blessed Christmas celebration of Jesus’ arrival on planet earth. I preached last Sunday on “Emmanuel, God with us” and showed a clip from the movie, Mr. Krueger’s Christmas where Mr. Krueger (an older Jimmy Stewart) envisions himself at the stable birthplace and the baby Jesus in a manger. His one-way conversation with the baby Jesus is one incredible piece of drama. If you have not seen that, you can find it online on You Tube by Googling “Mr. Krueger’s Christmas nativity scene”. It is worth the effort to look it up. The clip is about four minutes long. He thanks Jesus for “always being there for him through his life.” Indeed, he is WITH US just like he promised to be.

Military Bible Sticks
I am going to keep this edition short as I know most of us have plenty of stuff to read over the Christmas season but I do want to mention a really worthy cause and need, to you. I have had several conversations with a representative for Faith Comes By Hearing which is distributing the New Testament on an MP3 player to soldiers on active duty in our military. For $25 per unit they work through the military chaplains to make these available on request from the soldiers. The demand is so great they can hardly keep up. The program is endorsed by Franklin Graham and other Christian leaders as being a good cause. We have a major in the Army National Guard who attends our church who has had six deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan and he said he thought it was a great idea so that during their “down time”, the soldiers can listen to the Word of God.

Included with each unit is a card so the soldier can request a Bible Stick to be sent to his or her spouse and, if they have kids, a children’s version can be sent to the kids at no cost. We took an offering at our church last Sunday and will do so again this Sunday as well for this cause. If you would like to contribute toward this, you can do so directly via the Faith Comes By Hearing website or if you want, you can send it to CFM and I will include your contribution with that from North Kenai Chapel and send it all together. Contributions sent prior to December 31st will be reflected in the CFM contribution records for 2015. Interestingly, I had several persons in our congregation ask if they could get one of the Bible Sticks for their own use. For folks who have reading difficulties this can be a great tool to get the Bible into their hearts and minds.

CFM SupportersAs 2015 comes to a close, please let me express my gratitude for your prayers, support, and encouragement during this past year and for the past 30 years that CFM has been in existence. We couldn’t have done it without you. We look forward to many more years of ministry through CFM.

God bless you and may you have a wonderful Christmas and great new year!!

Pastor Wayne
