Bill came to Northwest College at age 37 after retiring from the military. He finished his studies at NU in 1970. He and Christel Decker (NU '68-'70) were married on June 14, 1969.
In 1970 the couple went to Fort Yukon, Alaska where they served as missionaries. They spent 14 years in missionary work in Alaska before returning to Washington state in 1984. They settled in Medical Lake, WA where for the next 16 years, Bill would work at Silver Lake Bible Camp, and Christel worked as a counselor at Lakeland Village for the mentally retarded until their retirement in 1999.
Christel is the author of two books: "If There Are No Apples In Heaven, I Don't Want To Go There", and "Living In The Land Where No Apples Grow". Bill and Christel are active in the Assembly of God church in Medical Lake.
